Product Review: Sheer Cover Studio Makeup #FlawlessFinish

I received Sheer Cover Studio Makeup products for free from ModernMom to review. I was not compensated. All opinions are my own.

Ever since I became a mom, make-up has been put on the back burner, particularly when it comes to every day morning rituals.

The make-up fashion shows that I used to attend twice a year have been replaced with pediatrician appointments and play groups. Although I still love cosmetics, I wouldn't have it any other way!

On most mornings, I frantically brush my teeth, wash my face, and throw my hair in a pony tail -- so that I can devote most of time and energy to my preemie daughter, Emily. She means the world to me -- so I give little thought to putting on make-up.

That being said, I would like to begin to take better care of myself by looking and feeling better about my appearance. That's why I was thrilled to be presented with an opportunity from ModernMom Insiders to review Sheer Cover Studio Makeup.

I was sent a package consisting of two brochures and the following products:
  • Sheer Cover Base Perfector Primer;
  • Sheer Cover Conceal & Brighten Trio;
  • Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation (Medium);
  • Sun-kissed Bronzing Minerals;
  • Sheer Cover Lash Extending Fibers;
  • Sheer Cover Lengthening Mascara (Black); and
  • Several Sheer Cover Make-Up Brushes
As instructed, I washed and moisturized my face before applying any of the Sheer Cover products.

The Sheer Cover Base Perfector Primer did not appear to be mentioned in the brochure listing step-by-step directions; however, I started the makeup application process with this product -- and am glad that I did.

When I squeezed the primer into my hand, I noticed that it looked a lot like white lotion, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the product rubs into your skin in a clear and transparent manner, without leaving any white streaks. I also found the primer to be very silky and smooth. It was absorbed quickly by my freshly cleaned and moisturized face and created a smooth canvas, perfect for makeup application.

Then, I applied the Conceal & Brighten Trio. I combined the two colors of concealer that were provided (one had a slightly yellow tint; the other had a tan tint).This creamy product was applied under my eyes, on a few red spots, and on a few places on my chin and cheeks. I found that this product did a good job hiding my red spots. I also used the brightener under my eyebrows and on the outer corner of my eyes, which seemed to make my skin glisten.

Next, I applied Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation. I've always used liquid foundation, so the concept of mineral makeup and its application is completely new to me. I brushed the mineral foundation onto my face using a circular motion and was surprised that it provided as much -- or maybe even more coverage -- than my liquid foundation.

I placed the Sun-Kissed Bronzing Minerals on my cheeks and also experimented with applying the powder-like formula on my eyelids. I was a little disappointed as the mineral composite inside of the container broke at some point during shipment, so the product was more in the form of a powder than a solid. I found the application process to be a little messy, but very manageable.

After that, it was time for mascara -- which was a multi-step process. I applied the Lengthening Mascara and followed-up with a coat of Lash Extending Fibers.

Then, I reapplied the mascara once more to seal the deal. I think the mascara and the lengthening fibers really helped add definition to my lashes.

Although the package of products I received was very generous, I felt like my makeup was somewhat incomplete without lipstick and eyeliner. So, I applied lipstick and eyeliner that I already owned. Although the lipstick and eyeliner I put on was not made by Sheer Cover, the company 's catalog lists several lip and eyeliner options, including: Defining Lip Liner, Lip Gloss Wands, and Defining Mineral Eyeliner.

  1. You look beautiful, and the makeup looks very natural on you!! I've used mineral makeup for years and loved the coverage! It always looked natural and felt like you weren't wearing makeup at all. I just got it everywhere - it was so messy!

  2. I haven't bothered with makeup since our boys were born either. Just haven't had the time. This makeup looks very natural and easy to apply.
