This week, Emily's Tiny Tots class focused on Mother's Day. Craft time consisted of two fun projects that we worked on together.
Mother's Day Flower Pot
We decorated a small flower pot with Emily's handprint using washable ink pads. Then, we planted a small impatient in the pot.
Tip: If you try this project at home, be sure to use a fresh ink pad. The ink pads available at our Tiny Tots class were somewhat dry, so Emily's handprints are difficult to see on the orange pot. If you're brave, you may want to use paint.
Mother's Day Poem
We also glued a cute Mother's Day poem onto a piece of construction paper. Then, we decorated the construction paper with Emily's handprints using blue and red paint. The Mother's Day poem says:
"Sometimes you get discouraged
Because I am so small,
And always leave my fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But everyday I am growing,
I'll be grown up someday,
And all these tiny handprints
Will simply fade away.
So here's a final handprint
Just so you can recall,
Exactly how my fingers looked
When I was very small."
Tip: If you try this project at home, be sure to have paper towels and wet wipes readily available to make cleaning quick and easy. I also recommend that both parent and child wear clothing that can get dirty.
Preemie Blessings wishes moms, grandmas, and individuals who are like mother's a very happy and memorable Mother's Day!
